The REALTOR® community is stepping up as devastating wildfires continue to impact Spokane County, Washington, displacing residents and damaging homes and communities.
According to the National Association of REALTORS®, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) has approved an initial $500,000 grant to support those affected by the disaster. Spokane REALTORS® are also coordinating local relief efforts, including donation collection sites and connections to shelter, food, clothing, animal rescue and other emergency resources.
For NCJAR members across North Jersey, this is an opportunity to stand with fellow REALTORS® and the communities they serve.
Tiffany Claxton, CEO of Spokane REALTORS® and a REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) board member, estimates that rebuilding will take three to five years. As of Aug. 5, Claxton said roughly 11,000 residential acres had burned in Spokane, while 10,000 homes remained at risk of destruction.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation provides housing-related assistance following disasters, and NAR reports that it covers the foundation’s administrative expenses so donated funds can go directly toward disaster relief and recovery assistance.
We encourage NCJAR members to learn more about the Spokane relief effort and consider supporting the REALTORS® Relief Foundation.
Every contribution is another way the REALTOR® community can come together to help families facing an unexpected housing crisis.
