May is ALS Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing public understanding and awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This month is crucial for spotlighting the challenges faced by those affected by this progressive neurodegenerative disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control.
As we look back on the past year, it's clear that Realtors® have not only continued their commitment to community service but have significantly increased their efforts. This year’s data reveals inspiring trends in both volunteerism and charitable contributions within the Realtor® community.
A remarkable 69% of Realtor® members dedicated their time to volunteer activities on a monthly basis. These members are not just signing up for one-off events; they're consistently giving back, averaging eight hours of volunteer work each month. This sustained commitment showcases the genuine dedication Realtors® have towards making a difference in their communities.
U.S. existing-home sales improved for the second month in a row, jumping 9.5% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.38 million units, exceeding economists’ expectations and marking the largest monthly gain in a year, according to the National Association of REALTORS®(NAR). The rebound in home sales comes amid fluctuating mortgage rates and elevated sales prices, indicating there is plenty of buyer demand heading into the spring selling season.
- Single Family Closed Sales were down 18.8 percent to 1,107.
- Townhouse-Condo Closed Sales were down 17.3 percent to 307.
- Adult Communities Closed Sales were down 6.0 percent to 47.
U.S. existing-home sales grew 3.1% month-over-month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.00 million, exceeding economists’ expectations and marking the strongest sales pace since August 2023, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Falling interest rates late last year, coupled with a recent uptick in inventory, helped existing-home sales to climb following last month’s decline, with monthly gains reported in the Midwest, South, and West regions.
- Single Family Closed Sales were down 0.6 percent to 973.
- Townhouse-Condo Closed Sales were down 11.8 percent to 247.
- Adult Communities Closed Sales were down 43.8 percent to 27.
